All existing users are encouraged to use kissdx instead. Kissdx is an enhanced version of kissd, developped by Vidar Tysse with help from Olivier Kahn and Emiliano Heyns.

kissd initial versions were heavily based on kiss4lin by Jacob Kolding, which isn't maintained anymore.
If you choose the first solution:
tar xvfj kissd-X.Y.tar.bz2
cd kissd-X.Y
make
make install
The second solution is even simpler:
rpmbuild -tb kissd-X.Y.tar.bz2
rpm -i kissd-X.Y.i386.rpm
/etc/kissd.conf
and put your own paths
inside.
If you have several directories containing videos/mp3/pictures you must create a main directory and use symlinks from this main directory to access the other directories.
